About...

Hello!

My name's Helen and it's lovely to meet you. These are a few questions I've been asked in the past, plus a couple of others. If there are any more then please do email me ...

What is Clear Your Heart?
I started Clear Your Heart in October 2008 following a rather heartbreaking end to a relationship. I originally started blogging to try and find the beauty in my life, through the sadness and confusion. Originally named With Eyes Wide Open, the blog soon evolved into a place to share my hopes, dreams and loves. Eventually, after a long hard slog, I found happiness within myself and Clear Your Heart has now become a love letter to my life. Part fashion, part lifestyle, part photography, Clear Your Heart is a kind of digital scrapbook where I record the things that make me happy and the things I love. I lost over 70 pounds in weight in 2010 and, as a result, I finally felt confident taking photographs of myself and developing my personal style. I've gained and re-lost a fair amount of that 70 pounds and am currently in a seemingly never-ending battle to get to my target weight. One day!

Where did the name Clear Your Heart come from?
It's a line from song 'Human' by The Killers. It seemed fitting at the time I started the blog and it stuck!

What camera do you use?
I use a Canon EOS 500d and edit my photos using pixlr. I take virtually all the photographs on this blog myself so if you want to use an image please ask first and give credit. Stealing makes me sad. I also use my iPhone 5s for every day snapshots.

Where do you live?
I bought my own house in South Manchester at the end of 2010. It's very much a work in progress but I'm utterly in love with it. I adore Manchester and spend most of my weekends exploring new and new-to-me bars and restaurants with my beloved boyfriend fiance, The Soldier, also known as A.

How did you lose so much weight?
Slimming World! I've been a yo-yo dieter for as long as I can remember. Slimming World is the only thing that has actually worked and I know now that I'll never go back to the weight I used to be. I've still got a little way to go but I'm well on my way. I wrote about my original weight loss journey on my other blog.

Do you take sponsors?
No, not any more.

Can I send you something to review?
As above. I no longer accept freebies or invites to events. For me, at this point, that's not what blogging is about.
